AIMS and SCOPE
Lietuvos archeologija is an international, peer-reviewed scientific journal dedicated to publishing original research articles on the archaeology of Lithuania and the Baltic region, as well as studies from European archaeology that have connections to the Baltic region.
The journal seeks to advance archaeological knowledge by publishing analysis of archaeological material, results of recent archaeological excavations, and discussions on theoretical and methodological approaches. The journal is open for publications covering various chronological periods, starting with prehistory and finishing with the modern era. In addition to research articles, the journal features reviews of archaeological books, articles, scientific events (conferences, seminars) and discussions.
The journal is published annually by the Lithuanian Institute of History. Texts are provided in Lithuanian and English.
Lietuvos archeologija has been published regularly for more than 40 years, since 1979.

Lietuvos archeologija is an open-access journal, all publications are freely available to readers without subscription or paywall restrictions. Articles published in the journal are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 License (CC BY 4.0).

PUBLISHING SCHEDULE
The volume is published annually at the end of the year (in December) in both electronic and print formats. The deadline for submitting manuscripts for the current year's issue is June 30.
CHARGES
The journal does not charge article processing charges or submission charges.
ADVERTISING
Journal does not publish advertising.
ARCHIVING
The electronic backup and preservation plan for Lietuvos archeologija ensures continued access to journal content in the event of publication discontinuation. Institutional Archiving and Backups
All digital content is stored on internal servers that are continuously monitored and maintained. To prevent data loss, regular automated backups are created and stored within a secure local server infrastructure.
Public Access and Security
Journal content is available on the institution’s website, which comply with national security standards. This platform ensures safe and reliable access to digital resources.
Collaboration with Libraries
Published digital resources are shared with partner libraries, including the Martynas MaÅžvydas National Library of Lithuania, ensuring broader accessibility and long-term preservation beyond the institution's archive.
Cloud Storage for Redundancy
To enhance reliability, journal content is also stored on cloud servers via open.istorija.lt. This safeguards against physical server failures and ensures global access and rapid data recovery if needed.
Long-Term Availability
While we do not anticipate discontinuing the journal, in the event of unforeseen circumstances, previously published manuscripts will remain accessible online for at least ten years. Additionally, libraries will retain copies of the journal or its articles indefinitely.
