DOCUMENTATION STYLE

Fonts and Main Text

The text must be in Roman script. The journal uses the ALA–LC transliteration scheme for Cyrillic and etc. alphabet (see more the Library of Congress' website (https://www.loc.gov/catdir/cpso/roman.html) and please ask via e-mail etnolog@istorija.lt).

All text, including footnotes, should be in 12 pt Times New Roman font, double-spaced.

Individuals’ names

Individuals’ names are to be given in their original form in Roman script (with inflection when written in Lithuanian), in full at the first mention and only the surname in subsequent mentions. If the surnames of several individuals are the same, include the first initial with the surname.

Quotations

Please use quotation marks to distinguish citations in the text.

Quotation marks in the List of References should appear as they do in the original publication.

Citations longer than 40 words should begin on a new line without quotation marks in 10 pt size text, to make them stand out from the regular text.

Footnotes

Footnotes should appear at the end of each page using consecutive numeration. Archival document annotations should be included in the footnotes.

References

All references to literature in the text must appear in brackets, showing the author’s surname, year of publication and page number, e.g.: (Šaknys 1996: 15); (Goody et al. 1981[1968]: 25); (Moore 2005 cited in Čepaitienė 2017: 29).

When reference is made to several works by the same author released in the same year, the letters ‘a’, ‘b’, etc., separated by a semicolon, should be used to denote the work in question, e.g.: (Volteris 1928a; 1928b).

References to archival documents or field research reports should be presented as follows: (LIIBR F 73, b. 5, l. 16); i.e., Lietuvos istorijos instituto Bibliotekos rankraštynas, fondas 73, byla 5, lapas 16. For submissions in English: (LIIBR col. 78, file 5, p. 16); Lithuanian Institute of History Library Manuscripts Department, collection 73, file 5, page 16).
