Abstract

This article is devoted to summarising the new archaeological and parasitological research data accumulated during the last several years of research. The text analyses the living conditions of the inhabitants of the castles in Vilnius, their nutrition and defecation habits, everyday hygiene, the contamination of the environment with parasites, and related problems. It discusses the possibility of identifying endoparasites and ectoparasites in Medieval cultural layers, the subtleties of interpreting the accumulated data, and the importance and perspectives of the results of this research.
